Current happenings:

10, 11 Nov 02 While at Louisville, KY, Mary Lou and Up Standing Chip received their Superior in Amateur Western pleasure when placed 1st and 5th in a 42 horse class.

David Smith with his halter gelding, took 2, Firsts in the Open division, a 2nd and 3d in the  Amateur division out of 20.  While at the Louisville Expo center, David also tried his hand at riding in the Novice Amateur division.

At the Southern Select Futurity, Jamie placed 4th over all on Up Standing Chip.

While at the Magic 20 Futurity; Mary Lou was Reserve Champion in the Non Pro Western Pleasure and Jamie placed 3d in the Open 3 & Over Division Western Pleasure.

Tonja's horse, Zip Me Twice, ridden by Lyman Hill placed 4th at the Magic 20.

In the Arkansas Breeders, he placed 4th on Zip Me Twice, overall at the Futurity in Pine Bluff.

UPDATE:

While in Arkansas, we convinced Tonja to show her horse in the Novice Western Pleasure class.  She placed a 4th, 6th, and  8th for her first time showing! Picking up her first 1/2 point!!

OLD NEWS:

Mary Lou has achieved her ROM on her 3 yr old mare Up Standing Chip "Maggie" in only her first 4 AQHA Shows.  

  • As of 15 September 2002, they are nearing their Superior in amateur Western Pleasure with approximately 33 points, and are well on their way to earning Superior in Jr. Horse Western pleasure

Jamie, as of 15 July 2002 has now earned Up Standing Chip's Open ROM in Jr. Western Pleasure.  

Tonja Smith, is really getting the hang of riding and is doing very well.   Tonja has purchased a new very quiet 3 year old gelding named "Zip Me Twice" better known as "TOTO" and hopes to start showing Novice in 2003.

David, Tonja's husband has joined the pleasure riders along with his showing halter.

  • At the 2002 AOHA Horse show in Montgomery Alabama, David won the open halter out of approximately 30 horses, and his son, won the Jr. Division.

Amanda Giddens has joined Jamie's barn with her horse "Zippy"
